Returns and exchanges

Made to order by hand, so the policy is tighter than a large retailer’s. Better said up front than later.

Every Marty Stitch Company garment is made by hand, one at a time, after you place your order. Because nothing is mass-produced and nothing sits in a warehouse, our return policy is tighter than what you’ll find at a large retailer. We’d rather be straightforward with you about that up front than surprise you later.

The short version

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery on eligible items, in unworn and unwashed condition with all original tags attached. Approved returns are issued as store credit, not a refund to your original payment method. Return shipping is paid by the customer. Custom sizing, alterations, and final-sale items cannot be returned.

Return window

You have 14 days from the date your order is delivered to request a return. Requests made after 14 days cannot be accepted. To start a return, email allen@martystitch.co with your order number and the reason for the return. We’ll respond within one business day with authorization and instructions.

Do not ship anything back before receiving a return authorization. Unauthorized returns may be refused or returned to sender at your expense.

Condition requirements

To be eligible for return, an item must be unworn, unwashed, and free of odors, stains, pet hair, and smoke. All original tags must remain attached. Garments that have been laundered, soaked, altered, hemmed, or tailored in any way are not eligible.

We inspect every returned garment on arrival. Items that arrive in a condition that does not meet these requirements will be returned to you at your expense, and no credit will be issued.

Store credit, not refunds

Approved returns are issued as store credit in the amount of the item’s purchase price, less any original shipping charges. Store credit is delivered by email as a code, never expires, and can be applied to any future order.

We do not issue refunds to the original payment method. This is deliberate: each piece is made to order specifically for you, and the labor and materials are already spent by the time the garment ships. Store credit lets us stand behind fit and satisfaction without absorbing a loss that a one-person shop can’t carry.
